Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHIJK LMNO BPQRESTUVU

They told me stories of the land of the lion thoughtA
It was folk tales But I have walked on the landB
Followed the trails of the greatest cats Now I knowC
It wasn t Israel they wrote about it was their fearD
Of a blessed land the land of promiseE
They thought it would be forgottenF
No No No selling us Jesus Christ so that we couldG
Forget we were the real children of GodH
Now I believe now I know now I get itI
My land is beautiful my people are awesomeJ
My dreams are realK
-
We will rise up from the OceansL
We will rise from the tunnelsM
We will rise from the ashesN
Our spirits they couldn t hide nor incinerateO
-
Look at them parasites of our strength our landB
Our blessings obese from sucking our bloodP
Selfish like lice unappreciative biting their hostsQ
This is our land this is our everythingR
The soul of our blackness the love of our darknessE
We will rise Oh children of the soilS
Africa will rise stand up to the challengeT
It is our turn to shine ours to riseU
Roar oh Lion of Judah come satisfy our soulsV
Rise oh Africa riseU
