To Any Army Wife, In Sardis: Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A ABA CAA DEF GGH IJK ALA MNO

To any army wife in SardisA
-
Some say a cavalry corpsA
some infantry some againB
will maintain that the swift oarsA
-
of our fleet are the finestC
sight on dark earth but I sayA
that whatever one loves isA
-
This is easily proved didD
not Helen she who had scannedE
the flower of the world's manhoodF
-
choose as first among men oneG
who laid Troy's honor in ruinG
warped to his will forgettingH
-
love due her own blood her ownI
child she wandered far with himJ
So Anactoria although youK
-
being far away forget usA
the dear sound of your footstepL
and light glancing in your eyesA
-
would move me more than glitterM
of Lydian horse or armoredN
tread of mainland infantryO
