Thoughts At Sea Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF AGAG HIHI JKJK

Here is the boundless ocean there the skyA
O'er arching broad and blueB
Telling of God and heaven how deep how highA
How glorious and trueB
-
Upon the wave there is an anthem sweetC
Whispered in fear and loveD
Sending a solemn tribute to the feetC
Of Him who sits aboveD
-
God of the waters Nature owns her KingE
The Sea thy sceptre knowsF
At thy command the tempest spreads its wingE
Or folds it to reposeF
-
And when the whirlwind hath gone rushing byA
Obedient to thy willG
What reverence sits upon the wave and skyA
Humbled subdued and stillG
-
Oh let my soul like this submissive seaH
With peace upon its breastI
By the deep influence of thy Spirit beH
Holy and hushed to restI
-
And as the gladdening sun lights up the mornJ
Bidding the storm departK
So may the Sun of Righteousness adornJ
With love my shadowed heartK
