The Golden Dream Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCDEFEFGHGHIJIK

In midnight dreams the Wizard cameA
And beckoned me awayB
With tempting hopes of wealth and fameA
He cheered my lonely wayB
He led me o'er a dusky heathC
And there a river sweptD
Whose gay and glassy tide beneathC
Uncounted treasure sleptD
The wooing ripples lightly dashedE
Around the cherished storeF
And circling eddies brightly flashedE
Above the yellow oreF
I bent me o'er the deep smooth streamG
And plunged the gold to getH
But oh it vanished with my dreamG
And I got dripping wetH
O'er lonely heath and darksome hillI
As shivering home I wentJ
The mocking Wizard whispered shrillI
'Thou'dst better been content 'K
