The Gipsy's Prayer Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABB CCDD EEFF GGHH

Our altar is the dewy sodA
Our temple yon blue throne of GodA
No priestly rite our souls to bindB
We bow before the Almighty MindB
-
Oh Thou whose realm is wide as airC
Thou wilt not spurn the Gipsies' prayerC
Though banned and barred by all besideD
Be Thou the Outcast's guard and guideD
-
Poor fragments of a Nation wreckedE
Its story whelmed in Time's neglectE
We drift unheeded on the waveF
If God refuse the lost to saveF
-
Yet though we name no FatherlandG
And though we clasp no kindred handG
Though houseless homeless wanderers weH
Oh give us Hope and Heaven with TheeH
