River Stone Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCC DEFG HIJK LMNO

It beats upon me and it hits against meA
What have I done why am I hereB
I have forever been here from birthC
From the earthC
-
A fate which I cannot escape bound to this stateD
At times the pain feels cool cold warm and hotE
Changes throughout the day the seasons as nature desiresF
It smoothens me like a precious pearlG
-
Pain which transforms in the flow which conformsH
Conforms to the path of the stream with its currentI
The current always fluctuatesJ
But despite its fluctuation I must maintain my stationK
-
I stand among many in this streamL
Yet I am aloneM
The flow beats us all be we stay strongN
Being a stone in this river isn t easy at allO

Poet's note: This poem shows how life beats down on us like the flow of a river. But we can be resolute in the midst of the pain like the river stone.
