Thoughts On The Shape Of The Human Body Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDEEFFGGHHIJKK LLKKMNKKOO

How can we find how can we rest how canA
We being gods win joy or peace being manA
We the gaunt zanies of a witless FateB
Who love the unloving and lover hateB
Forget the moment ere the moment slipsC
Kiss with blind lips that seek beyond the lipsC
Who want and know not what we want and cryD
With crooked mouths for Heaven and throw it byD
Love's for completeness No perfection growsE
'Twixt leg and arm elbow and ear and noseE
And joint and socket but unsatisfiedF
Sprawling desires shapeless perverse deniedF
Finger with finger wreathes we love and gapeG
Fantastic shape to mazed fantastic shapeG
Straggling irregular perplexed embossedH
Grotesquely twined extravagantly lostH
By crescive paths and strange protuberant waysI
From sanity and from wholeness and from graceJ
How can love triumph how can solace beK
Where fever turns toward fever knee toward kneeK
Could we but fill to harmony and dwellL
Simple as our thought and as perfectibleL
Rise disentangled from humanityK
Strange whole and new into simplicityK
Grow to a radiant round love and bearM
Unfluctuant passion for some perfect sphereN
Love moon to moon unquestioning and beK
Like the star Lunisequa steadfastlyK
Following the round clear orb of her delightO
Patiently ever through the eternal nightO
