The One Before The Last Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

I dreamt I was in love againA
With the One Before the LastB
And smiled to greet the pleasant painC
Of that innocent young pastB
-
But I jumped to feel how sharp had beenD
The pain when it did liveE
How the faded dreams of Nineteen tenA
Were Hell in Nineteen fiveE
-
The boy's woe was as keen and clearF
The boy's love just as trueG
And the One Before the Last my dearF
Hurt quite as much as youG
-
-
-
Sickly I pondered how the loverH
Wrongs the unanswering tombI
And sentimentalizes overH
What earned a better doomI
-
Gently he tombs the poor dim last timeJ
Strews pinkish dust aboveK
And sighs The dear dead boyish pastimeJ
But this ah God is LoveK
-
Better oblivion hide dead true lovesL
Better the night enfoldM
Than men to eke the praise of new lovesL
Should lie about the oldM
-
-
-
Oh bitter thoughts I had in plentyN
But here's the worst of itO
I shall forget in Nineteen twentyN
You ever hurt abitN
