Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCAADDEEFFCCGGAA HHIIAAAAAAAAJJKKA HHAALLMMNNOOHH PPAAQQLLRRQQ SSAATTAAMMHHDD

In a cool curving world he liesA
And ripples with dark ecstasiesA
The kind luxurious lapse and stealB
Shapes all his universe to feelB
And know and be the clinging streamC
Closes his memory glooms his dreamC
Who lips the roots o' the shore and glidesA
Superb on unreturning tidesA
Those silent waters weave for himD
A fluctuant mutable world and dimD
Where wavering masses bulge and gapeE
Mysterious and shape to shapeE
Dies momently through whorl and hollowF
And form and line and solid followF
Solid and line and form to dreamC
Fantastic down the eternal streamC
An obscure world a shifting worldG
Bulbous or pulled to thin or curledG
Or serpentine or driving arrowsA
Or serene slidings or March narrowsA
There slipping wave and shore are oneH
And weed and mud No ray of sunH
But glow to glow fades down the deepI
As dream to unknown dream in sleepI
Shaken translucency illumesA
The hyaline of drifting gloomsA
The strange soft handed depth subduesA
Drowned colour there but black to huesA
As death to living decomposesA
Red darkness of the heart of rosesA
Blue brilliant from dead starless skiesA
And gold that lies behind the eyesA
The unknown unnameable sightless whiteJ
That is the essential flame of nightJ
Lustreless purple hooded greenK
The myriad hues that lie betweenK
Darkness and darknessA
-
And all's oneH
Gentle embracing quiet dunH
The world he rests in world he knowsA
Perpetual curving Only growsA
An eddy in that ordered fallingL
A knowledge from the gloom a callingL
Weed in the wave gleam in the mudM
The dark fire leaps along his bloodM
Dateless and deathless blind and stillN
The intricate impulse works its willN
His woven world drops back and heO
Sans providence sans memoryO
Unconscious and directly drivenH
Fades to some dank sufficient heavenH
-
O world of lips O world of laughterP
Where hope is fleet and thought flies afterP
Of lights in the clear night of criesA
That drift along the wave and riseA
Thin to the glittering stars aboveQ
You know the hands the eyes of loveQ
The strife of limbs the sightless clingingL
The infinite distance and the singingL
Blown by the wind a flame of soundR
The gleam the flowers and vast aroundR
The horizon and the heights aboveQ
You know the sigh the song of loveQ
-
But there the night is close and thereS
Darkness is cold and strange and bareS
And the secret deeps are whisperlessA
And rhythm is all deliciousnessA
And joy is in the throbbing tideT
Whose intricate fingers beat and glideT
In felt bewildering harmoniesA
Of trembling touch and music isA
The exquisite knocking of the bloodM
Space is no more under the mudM
His bliss is older than the sunH
Silent and straight the waters runH
The lights the cries the willows dimD
And the dark tide are one with himD
