The Dead (ii) Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EEFDGD

These hearts were woven of human joys and caresA
Washed marvellously with sorrow swift to mirthB
The years had given them kindness Dawn was theirsA
And sunset and the colours of the earthB
These had seen movement and heard music knownC
Slumber and waking loved gone proudly friendedD
Felt the quick stir of wonder sat aloneC
Touched flowers and furs and cheeks All this is endedD
-
There are waters blown by changing winds to laughterE
And lit by the rich skies all day And afterE
Frost with a gesture stays the waves that danceF
And wandering loveliness He leaves a whiteD
Unbroken glory a gathered radianceG
A width a shining peace under the nightD
