Song of a tribe of the ancient EgyptiansA
-
-
-
The Priests within the TempleB
She was wrinkled and huge and hideous She was our MotherC
She was lustful and lewd but a God we had none otherC
In the day She was hidden and dumb but at nightfall moaned in the shadeD
We shuddered and gave Her Her will in the darkness we were afraidD
-
The People withoutE
She sent us painF
And we bowed before HerC
She smiled againG
And bade us adore HerC
She solaced our woeH
And soothed our sighingI
And what shall we doJ
Now God is dyingI
-
The Priests withinK
She was hungry and ate our children how should we stay HerC
She took our young men and our maidens ours to obey HerC
We were loathed and mocked and reviled of all nations that was our prideL
She fed us protected us loved us and killed us now She has diedL
-
The People withoutE
She was so strongM
But death is strongerC
She ruled us longM
But Time is longerC
She solaced our woeH
And soothed our sighingI
And what shall we doJ
Now God is dyingI
