Flight Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABC DEDFG HDHID JKJKK LMNMM OPOPQ DRDRR

Voices out of the shade that criedA
And long noon in the hot calm placesB
And children's play by the waysideA
And country eyes and quiet facesB
All these were round my steady pacesC
-
Those that I could have loved went by meD
Cool gardened homes slept in the sunE
I heard the whisper of water nigh meD
Saw hands that beckoned shone were goneF
In the green and gold And I went onG
-
For if my echoing footfall sleptH
Soon a far whispering there'd beD
Of a little lonely wind that creptH
From tree to tree and distantlyI
Followed me followed meD
-
But the blue vaporous end of dayJ
Brought peace and pursuit baffled quiteK
Where between pine woods dipped the wayJ
I turned slipped in and out of sightK
I trod as quiet as the nightK
-
The pine boles kept perpetual hushL
And in the boughs wind never swirledM
I found a flowering lowly bushN
And bowed slid in and sighed and curledM
Hidden at rest from all the worldM
-
Safe I was safe and glad I knewO
Yet with cold heart and cold wet browsP
I lay And the dark fell There grewO
Meward a sound of shaken boughsP
And ceased above my intricate houseQ
-
And silence silence silence found meD
I felt the unfaltering movement creepR
Among the leaves They shed around meD
Calm clouds of scent that I did weepR
And stroked my face I fell asleepR
