Failure Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDDE FGFHGH

Because God put His adamantine fateA
Between my sullen heart and its desireB
I swore that I would burst the Iron GateA
Rise up and curse Him on His throne of fireB
Earth shuddered at my crown of blasphemyC
But Love was as a flame about my feetD
Proud up the Golden Stair I strode and beatD
Thrice on the Gate and entered with a cryE
-
All the great courts were quiet in the sunF
And full of vacant echoes moss had grownG
Over the glassy pavement and begunF
To creep within the dusty council hallsH
An idle wind blew round an empty throneG
And stirred the heavy curtains on the wallsH
