Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDDEFEFGGG GHGHIIDJDJGGG

It doesn t matter what s the causeA
What wrong they say we re rightingB
A curse for treaties bonds and lawsC
When we re to do the fightingB
And since we lads are proud and trueD
What else remains to doD
Lucasta when to France your manE
Returns his fourth time hating warF
Yet laughs as calmly as he canE
And flings an oath but says no moreF
That is not courage that s not fearG
Lucasta he s a FusilierG
And his pride sends him hereG
-
Let statesmen bluster bark and brayG
And so decide who startedH
This bloody war and who s to payG
But he must be stout heartedH
Must sit and stake with quiet breathI
Playing at cards with DeathI
Don t plume yourself he fights for youD
It is no courage love or hateJ
But let us do the things we doD
It s pride that makes the heart be greatJ
It is not anger no nor fearG
Lucasta he s a FusilierG
And his pride keeps him hereG
