The Voice Of Beauty Drowned Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCCDD AEAFAAAA AGAGHHIJ AKAKAALL

Cry from the thicket my heart's birdA
The other birds woke all aroundB
Rising with toot and howl they stirredA
Their plumage broke the trembling soundB
They craned their necks they fluttered wingsC
While we are silent no one singsC
And while we sing you hush your throatD
Or tune your melody to our noteD
-
Cry from the thicket my heart's birdA
The screams and hootings rose againE
They gaped with raucous beaks they whirredA
Their noisy plumage small but plainF
The lonely hidden singer madeA
A well of grief within the gladeA
Whist silly fool be off they shoutA
Or we'll come pluck your feathers outA
-
Cry from the thicket my heart's birdA
Slight and small the lovely cryG
Came trickling down but no one heardA
Parrot and cuckoo crow magpieG
Jarred horrid notes and the jangling jayH
Ripped the fine threads of song awayH
For why should peeping chick aspireI
To challenge their loud woodland choirJ
-
Cried it so sweet that unseen birdA
Lovelier could no music beK
Clearer than water soft as curdA
Fresh as the blossomed cherry treeK
How sang the others all aroundA
Piercing and harsh a maddening soundA
With Pretty Poll tuwit tu wooL
Peewit caw caw cuckoo cuckooL
