The Last Post Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBACDDCC

The bugler sent a call of high romanceA
Lights out Lights out to the deserted squareB
On the thin brazen notes he threw a prayerB
God if it's this for me next time in FranceA
O spare the phantom bugle as I lieC
Dead in the gas and smoke and roar of gunsD
Dead in a row with the other broken onesD
Lying so stiff and still under the skyC
Jolly young Fusiliers too good to dieC
