The Frog And The Golden Ball Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEFE GHIH JKA LMN

She let her golden ball fall down the wellA
And begged a cold frog to retrieve itB
For which she kissed his ugly gaping mouthC
Indeed he could scarce believe itB
-
And seeing him transformed to his princely shapeD
Who had been by hags enchantedE
She knew she could never love another manF
Nor by any fate be dauntedE
-
But what would her royal father and mother sayG
They had promised her in marriageH
To a cousin whose wide kingdom marched with theirsI
Who rode in a jeweled carriageH
-
'Our plight dear heart would appear past human hopeJ
To all except you and me to allK
Who have never swum as a frog in a dark wellA
Or have lost a golden ball '-
-
'What then shall we do now ' she asked her loverL
He kissed her again and saidM
'Is magic of love less powerful at your CourtN
Than at this green well head '-
