The Caterpillar Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCC DEFG BHII JKCC LBMM ABNN

Under this loop of honeysuckleA
A creeping coloured caterpillarB
I gnaw the fresh green hawthorn sprayC
I nibble it leaf by leaf awayC
-
Down beneath grow dandelionsD
Daisies old man's looking glassesE
Rooks flap croaking across the laneF
I eat and swallow and eat againG
-
Here come raindrops helter skelterB
I munch and nibble unregardingH
Hawthorn leaves are juicy and firmI
I'll mind my business I'm a good wormI
-
When I'm old tired melancholyJ
I'll build a leaf green mausoleumK
Close by here on this lovely sprayC
And die and dream the ages awayC
-
Some say worms win resurrectionL
With white wings beating flitter flutterB
But wings or a sound sleep why should I careM
Either way I'll miss my shareM
-
Under this loop of honeysuckleA
A hungry hairy caterpillarB
I crawl on my high and swinging seatN
And eat eat eat as one ought to eatN
