The Boy Out Of Church Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEAE FGHG HIFI JEAE KGHG

As Jesus and his followersA
Upon a Sabbath mornB
Were walking by a wheat fieldC
They plucked the ears of cornB
-
They plucked it they rubbed itD
They blew the husks awayE
Which grieved the pious phariseesA
Upon the Sabbath dayE
-
And Jesus said A riddleF
Answer if you canG
Was man made for the SabbathH
Or Sabbath made for manG
-
I do not love the SabbathH
The soapsuds and the starchI
The troops of solemn peopleF
Who to Salvation marchI
-
I take my book I take my stickJ
On the Sabbath dayE
In woody nooks and valleysA
I hide myself awayE
-
To ponder there in quietK
God's Universal PlanG
Resolved that church and SabbathH
Were never made for manG
