Country At War Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDEECCFFGGHHII JJKKLLMMNNOOPPQQRS

And what of home how goes it boysA
While we die here in stench and noiseA
The hill stands up and hedges windB
Over the crest and drop behindB
Here swallows dip and wild things goC
On peaceful errands to and froC
Across the sloping meadow floorD
And make no guess at blasting warD
In woods that fledge the round hill shoulderE
Leaves shoot and open fall and moulderE
And shoot again Meadows yet showC
Alternate white of drifted snowC
And daisies Children play at shopF
Warm days on the flat boulder topF
With wildflower coinage and the waresG
Are bits of glass and unripe pearsG
Crows perch upon the backs of sheepH
The wheat goes yellow women reapH
Autumn winds ruffle brook and pondI
Flutter the hedge and fly beyondI
So the first things of nature runJ
And stand not still for any oneJ
Contemptuous of the distant cryK
Wherewith you harrow earth and skyK
And high French clouds praying to beL
Back back in peace beyond the seaL
Where nature with accustomed roundM
Sweeps and garnishes the groundM
With kindly beauty warm or coldN
Alternate seasons never oldN
Heathen how furiously you rageO
Cursing this blood and brimstone ageO
How furiously against your willP
You kill and kill again and killP
All thought of peace behind you castQ
Till like small boys with fear aghastQ
Each cries for God to understandR
'I could not help it it was my hand 'S
