Babylon Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDEFGGCCCCHHII JJKFELLMMNNFF

The child alone a poet isA
Spring and Fairyland are hisA
Truth and Reason show but dimB
And all's poetry with himB
Rhyme and music flow in plentyC
For the lad of one and twentyC
But Spring for him is no more nowD
Than daisies to a munching cowD
Just a cheery pleasant seasonE
Daisy buds to live at ease onF
He's forgotten how he smiledG
And shrieked at snowdrops when a childG
Or wept one evening secretlyC
For April's glorious miseryC
Wisdom made him old and waryC
Banishing the Lords of FaeryC
Wisdom made a breach and batteredH
Babylon to bits she scatteredH
To the hedges and ditchesI
All our nursery gnomes and witchesI
Lob and Puck poor frantic elvesJ
Drag their treasures from the shelvesJ
Jack the Giant killer's goneK
Mother Goose and OberonF
Bluebeard and King SolomonE
Robin and Red Riding HoodL
Take together to the woodL
And Sir Galahad lies hidM
In a cave with Captain KiddM
None of all the magic hostsN
None remain but a few ghostsN
Of timorous heart to linger onF
Weeping for lost BabylonF
