To J.r. Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAC DEDE DFDF GHGH

Last Sunday night I read the saddening storyA
Of the unanswered love of fair ElaineB
The faith unfaithful' and the joyless gloryA
Of Lancelot groaning in remorseful pain 'C
-
I thought of all those nights in wintry weatherD
Those Sunday nights that seem not long agoE
When we two read our Poet's words togetherD
Till summer warmth within our hearts did glowE
-
Ah when shall we renew that bygone pleasureD
Sit down together at our Merlin's feetF
Drink from one cup the overflowing measureD
And find in sharing it the draught more sweetF
-
That time perchance is far beyond diviningG
Till then we drain the magic cup' apartH
Yet not apart for hope and memory twiningG
Smile upon each uniting heart to heartH
