After LongfellowA
-
Loud he sang the song Ta PhershonB
For his personal diversionB
Sang the chorus U pi deeC
Sang about the Barley BreeC
-
In that hour when all is quietD
Sang he songs of noise and riotD
In a voice so loud and queerE
That I wakened up to hearF
-
Songs that distantly resembledG
Those one hears from men assembledG
In the old Cross Keys HotelH
Only sung not half so wellH
-
For the time of this ecstaticI
Amateur was most erraticI
And he only hit the keyC
Once in every melodyC
-
If he wot prigs wot isn't his'nB
Ven he's cotched is sent to prisonB
He who murders sleep might wellH
Adorn a solitary cellH
-
But if no obliging peelerJ
Will arrest this midnight squealerJ
My own peculiar arm of mightK
Must undertake the job to nightK
