The Caged Thrush Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDEE

Alas for the bird who was born to singA
They have made him a cage they have clipped his wingA
They have shut him up in a dingy streetB
And they praise his singing and call it sweetB
But his heart and his song are saddened and filledC
With the woods and the nest he never will buildC
And the wild young dawn coming into the treeD
And the mate that never his mate will beD
And day by day when his notes are heardE
They freshen the street but alas for the birdE
