On A Crushed Hat Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBA ABBA CDECDE

Brown was my friend and faithful but so fatA
He came to see me in the twilight dimB
I rose politely and invited himB
To take a seat how heavily he satA
-
He sat upon the sofa where my hatA
My wanton Zephyr rested on its rimB
Its build unlike my friend's was rather slimB
And when he rose I saw it crushed and flatA
-
O Hat that wast the apple of my eyeC
Thy brim is bent six cracks are in thy crownD
And I shall never wear thee any moreE
Upon a shelf thy loved remains shall lieC
And with the years the dust will settle downD
On thee the neatest hat I ever woreE
