Midnight Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB BDAD EFBF EGEG CHIH EJKJ

The air is dark and fragrantA
With memories of a showerB
And sanctified with stillnessC
By this most holy hourB
-
The leaves forget to whisperB
Of soft and secret thingsD
And every bird is silentA
With folded eyes and wingsD
-
O blessed hour of midnightE
Of sleep and of releaseF
Thou yieldest to the toilerB
The wages of thy peaceF
-
And I who have not labouredE
Nor borne the heat of noonG
Receive thy tranquil quietE
An undeserved boonG
-
Yes truly God is graciousC
Who makes His sun to shineH
Upon the good and evilI
And idle lives like mineH
-
Upon the just and unjustE
He sends His rain to fallJ
And gives this hour of blessingK
Freely alike to allJ
