Love Recalled In Sleep Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GHGH IJIJ KLKL

There was a time when in your faceA
There dwelt such power and in your smileB
I know not what of magic graceA
They held me captive for a whileB
-
Ah then I listened for your voiceC
Like music every word did fallD
Making the hearts of men rejoiceC
And mine rejoiced the most of allD
-
At sight of you my soul took flameE
But now alas the spell is fledF
Is it that you are not the sameE
Or only that my love is deadF
-
I know not but last night I dreamedG
That you were walking by my sideH
And sweet as once you were you seemedG
And all my heart was glorifiedH
-
Your head against my shoulder layI
And round your waist my arm was pressedJ
And as we walked a well known wayI
Love was between us both confessedJ
-
But when with dawn I woke from sleepK
And slow came back the unlovely truthL
I wept as an old man might weepK
For the lost paradise of youthL
