Indolence Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABBA ABBA CDECDE| Fain would I shake thee off but weak am I | A |
| Thy strong solicitations to withstand | B |
| Plenty of work lies ready to my hand | B |
| Which rests irresolute and lets it lie | A |
| - | |
| How can I work when that seductive sky | A |
| Smiles through the window beautiful and bland | B |
| And seems to half entreat and half command | B |
| My presence out of doors beneath its eye | A |
| - | |
| Will not the air be fresh the water blue | C |
| The smell of beanfields blowing to the shore | D |
| Better than these poor drooping purchased flowers | E |
| Good bye dull books Hot room good bye to you | C |
| And think it strange if I return before | D |
| The sea grows purple in the evening hours | E |
