Cyclamen Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBA ABBA CDEFDE

I had a plant which would not thriveA
Although I watered it with careB
I could not save the blossoms fairB
Nor even keep the leaves aliveA
-
I strove till it was vain to striveA
I gave it light I gave it airB
I sought from skill and counsel rareB
The means to make it yet surviveA
-
A lady sent it me to proveC
She held my friendship in esteemD
I would not have it as she saidE
I wanted it to be for loveF
And now not even friends we seemD
And now the cyclamen is deadE
