An Interview Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCE F F GHGH IJK BABA

I met him down upon the pierA
His eyes were wild and sadB
And something in them made me fearA
That he was going madB
-
So being of a prudent sortC
I stood some distance offD
And before speaking gave a shortC
Conciliatory coughE
-
I then observed 'What makes you lookF
So singularly glum '-
No notice of my words he tookF
I said 'Pray are you dumb '-
-
'Oh no ' he said 'I do not thinkG
My power of speech is lostH
But when one's hopes are black as inkG
Why talking is a frostH
-
'You see I'm in for Math againI
And certain to be ploughedJ
Please tell me where I could obtainK
An inexpensive shroud '-
-
I told him where such things are hadB
Well made and not too dearA
And feeling really very sadB
I left him on the pierA
