After Many Days Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDED FGFG HIHI JKJK LMLM

The mist hangs round the College towerA
The ghostly streetB
Is silent at this midnight hourA
Save for my feetB
-
With none to see with none to hearC
Downward I goD
To where beside the rugged pierE
The sea sings lowD
-
It sings a tune well loved and knownF
In days gone byG
When often here and not aloneF
I watched the skyG
-
That was a barren time at bestH
Its fruits were fewI
But fruits and flowers had keener zestH
And fresher hueI
-
Life has not since been wholly vainJ
And now I bearK
Of wisdom plucked from joy and painJ
Some slender shareK
-
But howsoever rich the storeL
I'd lay it downM
To feel upon my back once moreL
The old red gownM
