A Presentiment Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABBC ABBA DEFDEF| It seems a little word to say | A |
| FAREWELL but may it not when said | B |
| Be like the kiss we give the dead | B |
| Before they pass the doors for aye | C |
| - | |
| Who knows if on some after day | A |
| Your lips shall utter in its stead | B |
| A welcome and the broken thread | B |
| Be joined again the selfsame way | A |
| - | |
| The word is said I turn to go | D |
| But on the threshold seem to hear | E |
| A sound as of a passing bell | F |
| Tolling monotonous and slow | D |
| Which strikes despair upon my ear | E |
| And says it is a last farewell | F |
