A Birthday Gift Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABBA CBBD EFFEFFNo gift I bring but worship and the love | A |
Which all must bear to lovely souls and pure | B |
Those lights that when all else is dark endure | B |
Stars in the night to lift our eyes above | A |
- | |
To lift our eyes and hearts and make us move | C |
Less doubtful though our journey be obscure | B |
Less fearful of its ending being sure | B |
That they watch over us where'er we rove | D |
- | |
And though my gift itself have little worth | E |
Yet worth it gains from her to whom tis given | F |
As a weak flower gets colour from the sun | F |
Or rather as when angels walk the earth | E |
All things they look on take the look of heaven | F |
For of those blessed angels thou art one | F |
