There's a youth in this cityB
It were a great pityB
That he frae our lasses shou'd wander awaC
For he's bonnie an' brawA

And his hair has a natural buckle an' a'D
His coat is the hueE
Of his bonnet sae blueE
His feck it is white as the new driven snawF
His hose they are blaeE
And his shoon like the slaeE
And his clear siller buckles they dazzle us a'D

The laddie's been courtin'F

But chiefly the sillerA

And Susie whose daddy was laird o' the ha'E

Maist fetters his fancyB
