To Ellinda, That Lately I Have Not Written Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCC DDEEFF GGAAHI

If in me anger or disdaineA
In you or both made me refraineA
From th' noble intercourse of verseB
That only vertuous thoughts rehearseB
Then chaste Ellinda might you feareC
The sacred vowes that I did sweareC
-
But if alone some pious thoughtD
Me to an inward sadnesse broughtD
Thinking to breath your soule too welleE
My tongue was charmed with that spellE
And left it since there was no roomeF
To voyce your worth enough strooke dumbeF
-
So then this silence doth revealG
No thought of negligence but zealG
For as in adorationA
This is love's true devotionA
Children and fools the words repeatH
But anch'rites pray in tears and sweatI
