IA
When love with unconfined wingsB
Hovers within my gatesC
And my divine ALTHEA bringsB
To whisper at the gratesC
When I lye tangled in her haireD
And fetterd to her eyeA
The birds that wanton in the aireD
Know no such libertyE
-
IIA
When flowing cups run swiftly roundF
With no allaying THAMESG
Our carelesse heads with roses boundF
Our hearts with loyal flamesH
When thirsty griefe in wine we steepeI
When healths and draughts go freeE
Fishes that tipple in the deepeI
Know no such libertieF
-
IIIA
When like committed linnets IA
With shriller throat shall singJ
The sweetnes mercy majestyF
And glories of my KingJ
When I shall voyce aloud how goodF
He is how great should beF
Inlarged winds that curle the floodF
Know no such libertyF
-
IVK
Stone walls doe not a prison makeL
Nor iron bars a cageM
Mindes innocent and quiet takeL
That for an hermitageN
If I have freedome in my loveK
And in my soule am freeF
Angels alone that sore aboveK
Enjoy such libertyF
