The Duell Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABACDD EFGFFFF EFHFIDD JHIEIKK HDIDEHE

Love drunk the other day knockt at my brestA
But I alas was not withinB
My man my ear told me he came t' attestA
That without cause h'd boxed himC
And battered the windows of mine eyesD
And took my heart for one of's nunneriesD
-
IIE
I wondred at the outrage safe return'dF
And stormed at the base affrontG
And by a friend of mine bold faith that burn'dF
I called him to a strict accomptF
He said that by the law the challeng'd mightF
Take the advantage both of arms and fightF
-
IIIE
Two darts of equal length and points he sentF
And nobly gave the choyce to meH
Which I not weigh'd young and indifferentF
Now full of nought but victorieI
So we both met in one of's mother's grovesD
The time at the first murm'ring of her dovesD
-
IVJ
I stript myself naked all o're as heH
For so I was best arm'd when bareI
His first pass did my liver rase yet IE
Made home a falsify too neerI
For when my arm to its true distance cameK
I nothing touch'd but a fantastick flameK
-
VH
This this is love we daily quarrel soD
An idle Don QuichoterieI
We whip our selves with our own twisted woD
And wound the ayre for a flyE
The only way t' undo this enemyH
Is to laugh at the boy and he will cryE
