Rhyme Scheme: ABABCCDD EFGHHII JDJDKLMMNight loathed jaylor of the lock'd up sun | A |
And tyrant turnkey on committed day | B |
Bright eyes lye fettered in thy dungeon | A |
And Heaven it self doth thy dark wards obey | B |
Thou dost arise our living hell | C |
With thee grones terrors furies dwell | C |
Until LUCASTA doth awake | D |
And with her beams these heavy chaines off shake | D |
- | |
Behold with opening her almighty lid | E |
Bright eyes break rowling and with lustre spread | F |
And captive day his chariot mounted is | G |
Night to her proper hell is beat | H |
And screwed to her ebon seat | H |
Till th' Earth with play oppressed lies | I |
And drawes again the curtains of her eyes | I |
- | |
But bondslave I know neither day nor night | J |
Whether she murth'ring sleep or saving wake | D |
Now broyl'd ith' zone of her reflected light | J |
Then frose my isicles not sinews shake | D |
Smile then new Nature your soft blast | K |
Doth melt our ice and fires waste | L |
Whil'st the scorch'd shiv'ring world new born | M |
Now feels it all the day one rising morn | M |
