IA
The day is curl'd about agenB
To view the splendor she was inB
When first with hallow'd handsC
The holy man knit the mysterious bandsC
When you two your contracted souls did moveD
Like cherubims aboveE
And did make loveE
As your un understanding issue nowB
In a glad sigh a smile a tear a vowB
-
IIA
Tell me O self reviving SunB
In thy perigrinationB
Hast thou beheld a pairF
Twist their soft beams like these in their chast airF
As from bright numberlesse imbracing rayesC
Are sprung th' industrious dayesC
So when they gazeC
And change their fertile eyes with the new mornB
A beauteous offspring is shot forth not bornB
-
IIIA
Be witness then all seeing SunB
Old spy thou that thy race hast runB
In full five thousand ringsC
To thee were ever purer offeringsC
Sent on the wings of Faith and thou O NightG
Curtain of their delightG
By these made brightG
Have you not mark'd their coelestial playH
And no more peek'd the gayeties of dayH
-
IVB
Come then pale virgins roses strowI
Mingled with Ios as you goI
The snowy ox is kill'dJ
The fane with pros'lyte lads and lasses fill'dJ
You too may hope the same seraphic joyK
Old time cannot destroyK
Nor fulnesse cloyK
When like these you shall stamp by sympathiesC
Thousands of new born loves with your chaste eyesC
