Young Love Xii - A Lost Hour Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCC DEED FCGGCF EEHHII

God gave us an hour for our tearsA
One hour out of all the yearsB
For all the years were another's goldC
Given in a cruel troth of oldC
-
And how did we spend his boonD
That sweet miraculous flowerE
Born to die in an hourE
Late born to die so soonD
-
Did we watch it with breathless breathF
By slow degrees unfoldC
Did we taste the innermost heart of itG
The honey of each sweet part of itG
Suck all its hidden goldC
To the very dregs of its deathF
-
Nay this is all we did with our hourE
We tore it to pieces that precious flowerE
Like any daisy with listless mirthH
We shed its petals upon the earthH
And children like when it all was doneI
We cried unto God for another oneI
