Like a dessert cactus
full of tiny spikes,
appeared to be least
attractive, so prickly and dull.
She built those fuzzy spikes,
to guard her inside from
any harm, for inside dwells
a heart so soft and warm.
So vulnerable yet so brave,
so tough and adaptive to the
dessert's dry land and
long time drought.
Not any sandstorm can pull
her down, she's brave enough
to live with head up high
to the rising sun and the
resting moon.
