The Song Of The Widow Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGG HIJKLH MINIIO PQRSTU P

In the beginning life was good to meA
it held me warm and gave me courageB
That this is granted all while in their youthC
how could I then have known of thisD
I never knew what living wasE
But suddenly it was just year on yearF
no more good no more new no more wonderfulG
Life had been torn in two right down the middleG
-
That was not his fault nor mineH
since both of us had nothing but patienceI
but death has noneJ
I saw him coming how rotten he lookedK
and I watched him as he took and tookL
and nothing was mineH
-
What then belonged to me was mine my ownM
Was not even this utter wretchednessI
on loan to me by fateN
Fate does not only claim your happinessI
it also wants your pain back and your tearsI
and buys the ruin as something useless oldO
-
Fate was present and acquired for a nothingP
every expression my face is capable ofQ
even to the way I walkR
The daily diminishing of me went onS
and after I was emptied fate gave me upT
and left me standing there abandonedU
