Rhyme Scheme: AABB CDDDD BEBE

The sky was as black as black can beA
the ship was tossed on a stormy seaA
the waves they crashed against the rocksB
whilst the sailors cursed and washed their socksB

The ship did rollC
the spray did flyD
the Captain got some in his eyeD
and each man was certain that he would dieD
as he hung out his socks and he left them to dryD
-
Then the ship it struck the rocksB
Then it began to sinkE
The sailors died without their socksB
with their pants in a bowl in the sinkE
