The False Fair Days Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBA ABBA CBA DBA

The false fair days have flamed the livelong dayA
And still they flicker in the brazen WestB
Cast down thine eyes poor soul shut out the unblestB
A deadliest temptation Come awayA
-
All day they flashed in flakes of fire that layA
The vintage low upon the hill's green breastB
The harvest low and o'er that faithfullestB
The blue sky ever beckoning shed dismayA
-
Oh clasp thy hands grow pale and turn againC
If all the future savoured of the pastB
If the old insanity were on its wayA
-
Those memories must each anew be slainD
One fierce assault the best no doubt the lastB
Go pray against the gathering storm go prayA
