Riding To Town Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCDED FFBBCGAG HIBBCJKJ LLBBCEDE

When labor is light and the morning is fairA
I find it a pleasure beyond all compareA
To hitch up my nag and go hurrying downB
And take Katie May for a ride into townB
For bumpety bump goes the wagonC
But tra la la la our layD
There's joy in a song as we rattle alongE
In the light of the glorious dayD
-
A coach would be fine but a spring wagon's goodF
My jeans are a match for Kate's gingham and hoodF
The hills take us up and the vales take us downB
But what matters that we are riding to townB
And bumpety bump goes the wagonC
But tra la la la sing weG
There's never a care may live in the airA
That is filled with the breath of our gleeG
-
And after we've started there's naught can repressH
The thrill of our hearts in their wild happinessI
The heavens may smile or the heavens may frownB
And it's all one to us when we're riding to townB
For bumpety bump goes the wagonC
But tra la la la we shoutJ
For our hearts they are clear and there 's nothing to fearK
And we've never a pain nor a doubtJ
-
The wagon is weak and the roadway is roughL
And tho' it is long it is not long enoughL
For mid all my ecstasies this is the crownB
To sit beside Katie and ride into townB
When bumpety bump goes the wagonC
But tra la la la our songE
And if I had my way I 'd be willing to payD
If the road could be made twice as longE
