The Voices Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDE FGHIJ KLMNO APQGRS ATUVWXY

Whilst walking down the dark alleyA
with a pierced heart and a broken crossbowB
I am a predator dangles like earringsC
in my timid heart as my legsD
tremble to the thuds of falling leavesE
-
Am I a preyF
to the voices growling in my headG
or I am just a feebleminded predatorH
whose courage was brokenI
whose hope was punctured and razedJ
-
If my next step becomes the lastK
and my feet become frightened to kiss the soilL
if I fail to find myselfM
in the breezy breeze of tomorrow duskN
squirt my forehead with spits of jeerO
-
I'll walk down the dark alleyA
with a blank heart and a faceless maskP
if tomorrow comes and I am out of sightQ
give the crown to the voices lurking in my headG
for they have buried my soulR
in the thwarted under groundS
-
I will keep walking down this dark alleyA
towards the sunlight piercing the gloomT
with my pierced heart still beatingU
if you see me give the crownV
to my beating heartW
for my soul hears a new songX
a new song of life and refreshmentY
