The Voiceless Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFEFGHGH IJIKLMLM

WE count the broken lyres that restA
Where the sweet wailing singers slumberB
But o'er their silent sister's breastA
The wild flowers who will stoop to numberB
A few can touch the magic stringC
And noisy Fame is proud to win themD
Alas for those that never singC
But die with all their music in themD
-
Nay grieve not for the dead aloneE
Whose song has told their hearts' sad storyF
Weep for the voiceless who have knownE
The cross without the crown of gloryF
Not where Leucadian breezes sweepG
O'er Sappho's memory haunted billowH
But where the glistening night dews weepG
On nameless sorrow's churchyard pillowH
-
O hearts that break and give no signI
Save whitening lip and fading tressesJ
Till Death pours out his longed for wineI
Slow dropped from Misery's crushing pressesK
If singing breath or echoing chordL
To every hidden pang were givenM
What endless melodies were pouredL
As sad as earth as sweet as heavenM
