Being a fatherA
Is quite a botherA
-
You are as free as airB
With time to spareB
-
You're a fiscal rocketC
With change in your pocketC
-
And then one mornD
A child is bornD
-
Your life has been runcibleE
IrresponsibleE
-
Like an arrow or javelinF
You've been constantly travelin'F
-
But mostly I daresayG
Without a chaise perc eH
-
To which by comparisonF
Nothing's embarisonF
-
But all children maturesI
Maybe even yoursI
-
You improve them mentallyH
And straighten them dentallyH
-
They grow tall as a lancerA
And ask questions you can't answerA
-
And supply you with dataJ
About how everybody else wears lipstick sooner and stays up laterA
-
And if they are popularA
The phone they monopularA
-
They scorn the dominionF
Of their parent's opinionF
-
They're no longer corralableH
Once they find that you're fallibleH
-
But after you've raised them and educated them and gowned themK
They just take their little fingers and wrap you around themK
-
Being a father Is quite a botherA
But I like it ratherA
