and always there are the childrenA
-
there will be children in the heat of dayB
there will be children in the cold of winterC
-
-
children like a quilted blanketD
are welcomed in our old ageE
-
-
children like a block of ice to a desert sheikF
are signs of status in our youthG
-
-
we feed the children with our cultureC
that they might understand our travailH
-
we nourish the children on our godsI
that they may understand respectJ
-
we urge the children on the tracksK
that our race will not fall shortL
-
but our children are not oursM
nor we theirs they are future we are pastN
-
-
how do we welcome the futureC
not with the colonialism of the pastN
for that is our problemO
not with the racism of the pastN
for that is their problemO
not with the fears of our own statusP
for history is lived not dictatedQ
-
we welcome the young of all groupsR
as our own with the solid nourishmentS
of food and warmthT
-
we prepare the way with the solidQ
nourishment of self actualizationA
-
we implore all the young to prepare for the youngU
because always there will be childrenA
