Corydon's Supplication To Phyllis Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCDEFEFGHGHIJIJ KDKDLMLMNONOPQPQ

Sweet Phyllis if a silly swainA
May sue to thee for graceB
See not thy loving shepherd slainA
With looking on thy faceB
But think what power thou hast gotC
Upon my flock and meD
Thou seest they now regard me notC
But all do follow theeD
And if I have so far presumedE
With prying in thine eyesF
Yet let not comfort be consumedE
That in thy pity liesF
But as thou art that Phyllis fairG
That fortune favour givesH
So let not love die in despairG
That in thy favour livesH
The deer do browse upon the briarI
The birds do pick the cherriesJ
And will not Beauty grant DesireI
One handful of her berriesJ
If it be so that thou hast swornK
That none shall look on theeD
Yet let me know thou dost not scornK
To cast a look on meD
But if thy beauty make thee proudL
Think then what is ordain'dM
The heavens have never yet allow'dL
That love should be disdain'dM
Then lest the fates that favour loveN
Should curse thee for unkindO
Let me report for thy behoofN
The honour of thy mindO
Let Corydon with full consentP
Set down what he hath seenQ
That Phyllida with Love's contentP
Is sworn the shepherds' queenQ
